YOUNG’s Will Burstall has achieved the outstanding success of selection in the NSW Country under 18s team and also, the NSW State Development Squad.
This comes after strong performances at the recent NSW Country Waratah Camp in Gosford, as well as strong encouragement from the NSW State Coach in the leadup to the season’s selection events.
The young star will be undergoing extra training at home with high performance coach Damien Collins and attending a series of intensive training camps beginning with another trip to Gosford this long weekend for an induction training camp with the National Intensive Training Squad.
This will actually be Will’s first opportunity to meet his new teammates and start to learn their strengths, weaknesses and playstyles.
“I’m really looking forward to the camp and working with the rest of the squad, though its pretty scary as I’ve never met any of them,” Will said.
“It will be great to work under some of the state coaches and the pressure will be on to show them I can learn fast and play well.”
Will will be competing throughout 2009 in the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup and the Pacific Coast Slam as well as a series of additional training camps.
Meanwhile, selectors will be watching closely on the lookout for potential members of the Australian under 18s.
