Local women who care

21/08/2008 5:53:00 PM
WOMEN from Young and Grenfell gathered in Grenfell’s main street recently to clip together bras that have been donated by local women for the charity ‘Citizens Who Care’.

The charity was formed to assist the McGrath Foundation, which supports cancer research.

They are also aiming to gain entry in the Guinness Book of Records by snatching the record from Cyprus for the longest bra chain in the world.

The present record is 111km of bras hooked together. The number of bras needed to achieve this result was 111,462.

The women of Young and Grenfell have collected a total of 1,300 bras, which will provide six to seven kilometres towards the record.

After clipping the bras together and packing them into boxes, Linfox Transport drove the bras free of charge to Bundaberg, where the Guinness Book of Records will be attempted to be broken in December.
