LOCAL girl Brooke Stevenson was recognized for excellence in her chosen field of study at the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) when she was presented with the top award at the Tourism and Hotel Management Awards Evening last month.

The Centre Director Mr Stuart Walsh presented Brooke with the CIT Centre Director’s Award for her ‘sound academic performance and outstanding contribution to the Centre, community and industry activities.’

Brooke is studying for her Advanced Diploma in Hotel Management at CIT and was nominated for the award by her faculty against one nominee from each other faculty including Beauty, Events Management, Tourism and Culinary, being chosen as the most deserving throughout the Centre.

Brooke attended high school at Hennessy Catholic College where she studied Hospitality as one of her favourite subject choices.

“I hope my Hospitality teacher, Jenny Philpot, can be proud as she really inspired my interest,” Brooke said.

In addition to her studies, Brooke currently works at the Park Hyatt Hotel in Canberra.
