A FORMER Young resident stars in a new television show to be screened from October 11.

Pat Callinan who is the son of well known residents Leo and Margaret Callinan is producer and presenter of ”Pat Callinan’s 4X4 Adventures”, which screens on Channel 10 at 12.30pm over 13 Saturdays.

Since his days as captain of Young Public School Pat has been busy matching his facility for writing with a passion for four wheel driving and touring the Australian outback.

While his well known sister Louise has been singing her way around the opera houses of Europe Pat, was editing a four wheel drive magazine from its start up stage to the present day status of an industry leader.

As part of this role Pat also produced DVD’s in magic areas of the Australia from Cape York though to Tasmania. He now puts to good use experience gleaned over a decade in four wheel drive journalism and admits he’s thrilled about the new television venture, which is the realisation of a long held dream.

“I’m excited about introducing a whole heap of people to four wheel driving,” he says. “I want to show people how easy it is, and what amazing places you can see with four wheel drive vehicles that you can’t see with conventional vehicles.

“ So many people think a four wheel drive is just a shopping trolley but I think most people who purchase four a wheel drive have in the back of their minds that at some stage they’ll be cruising down a dusty road, experiencing the best of what Australia has to offer.”

Pat Callinan is eager to share some of Australia’s spectacular scenery that is showcased in his television show.
