Alleged fraud offender arrested

A 47-year-old male was arrested as he left a business in Boorowa on Tuesday, after an off duty police officer recognised the man as being wanted for interview in relation to a series of alleged fraud offences in Cootamundra, Boorowa, Yass, Sydney, Kangaroo Valley, Mossvale, Moruya, Forbes, Walla Walla and Oberon.

The man was conveyed to the Young Police Station where he was interviewed and later charged with 15 fraud related offences and one count of stealing a motor vehicle.

It is alleged that the offences all relate to the man presenting cheques to businesses for cash and payment of goods and services. The accused was refused bail and appeared in the Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday, August 20.

The case was adjurned and bail was refused.

Police investigations will be ongoing and it likely that further charges will be made.
